I am Interrogating the ideas of maintenance and care for and of the body through the materiality and abstract concept of skin. Taking into account how the body leaves its indexical mark, and impacts the space around it as well as how the body is impacted by the space around it, and the impression that is left behind.
Currently I have a heavy material focus on bio leather and biodegradable materials, specifically Symbiotic Cultures of Bacteria and Yeast which have been tended to for the past six months. Delving deep into the intricate nature of conversations surrounding mental illness and self care, my work creates subtle narratives about the human nature of self destruction, self help and how the two are at times intertwined and opposing. My work places a heavy emphasis on the abstract concept and materiality of skin and protective layers, discussing how one cares, harms and maintains. With a focus on bio-materials and bacteria cultivation into unconventional portraits, the concept of sustainability of practice, lifestyle and material. Currently I have a heavy material focus on bio leather and biodegradable materials, specifically Symbiotic Cultures of Bacteria and Yeast which have been tended to for the past six months
